Q1] Where is Nityanand Katraj/Pachane situated? How can one reach the place where NRC is located?

Q2] How many acres does the Centre occupy?
Nityanand Rehabilitation Centre is constructed in a 15,000 sq. feet plot with Comfortable facilities for the residents.
NIMS is constructed in 16 acres of land. It is surrounded by lush Greenery, lake and beautiful mountains.

Q3] Who is the owner of the rehabilitation centers?

Both the centers Nityanand Rehabilitation Centre and Nityanand Institute of Medical Sciences are owned by Dr. Nitin Dalaya (M.D Psychiatrist). He is the Director of both the centers.

Q4] What type of patients are admitted in the centers?
Clients suffering from various mental illness’s like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety and all types of addictions are admitted in NRC. [Please note that people Suffering from Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Mental Retardation are not admitted]

Q5]What documents are required at the time of admission?

2 recent passport size photographs of the client.
Address proof is required.
Contact numbers and residential proof of local guardian.
Previous treatment details.

Q6] Is there any guest house facility for relatives or visitors in your premises?
No such facilities are available within the centre at Nityanand Rehabilitation Center- Katraj. However such facilities are available in Pune city within the range of 3-4 kms.
Such facilities are available in Hinjewadi with respect to our Pachane center (You need to inform us at least a week prior to check availibility)

 Q7] What facilities are provided to the residents?

At Katraj
Separate residential wards for males and females.
Separate ward is available for addict patients.

Q8]What are the monthly charges? Do we need to pay any deposit?
Yes. Deposit has to be paid for 1 month [as security].
Fees are fixed. Apart from the fees one has to pay additional personal expenses which are variable depending upon the client’s expenditure. (Details are given in Program Fees)

Q9]  How are medical emergencies tackled in your rehabilitation center? Is a physical check-up necessary before admission?
Patients irritable and violent behavior is managed at the hospital.
For any clients physical problems – The physician visits once a week and in case of other major medical emergencies client is shifted to other hospitals – viz Poona Hospital, Bharati
Hospital or wherever the family requests. The client’s family has to stay with the client when he / she is in another hospital.

 Q10] What is the minimum period of stay? Are family members allowed to stay with the patient?
Minimum span of treatment is 90 days for Addiction program.
For client’s with Mental Illness the tenure depends on his/her problem and improvement.
Decisions are made after consultation between the doctor and the client’s family members.
No. Family members are not allowed to stay with the patient.

Q11]When are we allowed to meet the client after admission?
After admission procedure – Client is made comfortable [depending on his/her condition] and the 1st telephone call is given after 15 days. After that patient can talk to the family once in a week.
Meeting is conducted after one month only. After that family meetings are fixed depending on the recovery of the patient. These rules have been made for the better treatment of the client. [Hence no families will be taken care of without prior appointment]. Moreover one can also contact your designated councelor to check on patient’s progress and also fix meetings with the councelor with prior appointments.

 Q12] Is the client treated with ECTs? What kind of medicine and dosages are given to the client? Is the medicine distributed to the clients?

No. We don’t give ECTs to the client.
Clients are treated with Alopathic medicines – mainly with anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers, anti-depressants and anxiolities [depending upon the illness]. The dosages are supervised by the psychiatrist considering the side-effects.
Yes. The medicines are distributed to the clients by the trained nurses. Medicines are supervised by the residential staff only.

Q13] What is the client’s daily routine?
7.00 am Wake-up time
7.30 – 8.30 am Self-care, Hygiene & Bed making.
8.30 – 9.30 am Breakfast and Medicine distribution by sisters or brothers.
9.30 – 10.00 am Mirror therapy and observing and supervising grooming.
10.00 – 12.30 pm Day-care activities (Days are scheduled for specific activities, for further details please read the link for Day care)
1.00-2.00 pm Lunch & Medicine distribution by sisters or brothers
2.00 – 3.00 pm Rest time
3.00 – 4.00 pm Day-care activities (Days are scheduled for specific activities, for further details please read the link for Day care)
(Role-plays, drama-music-dance therapy, Indoor Games, laughter therapy etc)
4.00 – 4.30 pm Yoga and Exercise.
4.30 -5.00 Tea break
5.00 – 6.30 pm Leisure time
(This time is specifically given so that we can observe how clients spend their free time, whether. they sit and talk to inmates, have conversations, or sit by themselves, watching TV etc)
7.00 – 8.00 pm Dinner & Medicine distribution by sisters or brothers
8.00 – 9.00 pm Watching Television.
9.00 pm Lights off
Please note: On special days like birthdays or any other celebrations, the occasion is celebrated in the afternoon’s after 4.00 pm.

Q14]What kind of food is distributed to the clients?

Clients are provided with tea 3 times a day.

Breakfast varies from – Poha, Upma, Idli-Sambar, Idli-Chatni, Missal pav, Khichdi.

For Lunch and Dinner – Rotis, Sabji’s, Rice, Dals, Curries & salad is provided.

In case the client demands for food or eatables from outside, clients would be provided with it, but the family would be charged extra for the same and it will not be a part of the fees. Extra things would be sanctioned to the client only if his finance has been cleared.

Both Veg and Non-Veg food parcels are allowed, after family members permission.
